Customer Review: “This is a really great coffee maker, I just add coffee and water and then set it to forget it. The next morning I have coffee. I chose this because of the simplicity. I am not a coffee drinker, I drink coffee for the energy not for the enjoyment.I see that some people say that the coffee is weak tasting despite adding a ton of grounds and waiting for more than the recommended time. This may happen when not all the coffee grounds are saturated, I use a chopstick to stir the grounds around to make sure that every ground is touched by the water. If you just add the water in quickly, some grounds in the center or bottom will become packed and never touch water at all.Some people are getting a sludge at the bottom of their coffee. The recommendation is to use coarse ground. At that point if you’re still getting sludge I recommend to add the grounds to the mesh strainer and then shake it over the sink. That way you are forcing the grounds that are fine enough to pass through the strainer to pass through before you even start the brewing process.I can’t speak for the taste, whether it’s weak, strong, acidic or bitter, i have no idea. I think that all coffee tastes bad, I add a ton of milk to the point where I don’t notice the coffee.I don’t know why people are saying that it’s easy to clean. Because I spend a quite a few minutes running water on the outside of the strainer to get the remaining coffee grounds out. That might be due to me using pre ground coffee and they’re smaller, so easier to get stuck inside the strainer? For the filter, I do find that it’s hard to get the wet grounds out (they stick like no other) so I end up letting it dry out for a day and then scrape them out. Plastic lids are hard enough to use on glass jar. Having a handle in the way so that you have to remove your hand with each turn is frustrating. Customer Review: “For the amount of coffee beans I dump into my percolator to make one cup of strong coffee, I thought I would be better off making cold brew and squeezing every last drop of caffeine out of my beans.This pitcher is functional, easy to clean, screw together, and has the little measuring tick marks on the side. For $20 it’s a great deal.I’m now enamored with the whole mason jar thing and it’s appealing to have a giant mason jar pitcher. Also the plastic lid screws on tight, my arms being stronger than some, so I had to be careful not to screw it on tighter.It’s a 64oz mason jar, but with the filter filled with 8oz of ground coffee it’s slightly less. The instructions say to use 8oz of coffee grounds with 64oz water, I didn’t come up with that myself.Also, you have to grind your own beans: the pre-ground beans from the store are too fine and seeped out of my metal tea strainers that I already had from a different brand/appliance. I didn’t experiment with putting store bought grounds in this strainer, no desire to potentially drink coffee with fine grounds in it.So in addition to this pitcher I ended up buying a Black&Decker basic coffee grinder, to get coarse grinds.I also labeled the lid with the date/time my 24-hour batch would be ready, with a red wax pencil, you can use masking tape or whatever, sharpie washes off plastic with dish soap sometimes.Overall this is a decent pitcher for making your own cold brew coffee.”
