It works well, but like any metal filter, the very fine coffee grains make their way through the metal and into your water. This makes the coffee murky and muddy. A simple solution is to filter your cold brew, once it is finished, through a paper coffee filter to make it nice and clear. It is an extra step and expected when using cheesecloth or, in this case, a metal filter for cold brew. All in all, this cold brew maker/pitcher works well. I made my first pitcher of cold brew and it came out great.”

Customer Review: “This is a really great coffee maker, I just add coffee and water and then set it to forget it. The next morning I have coffee. I chose this because of the simplicity. I am not a coffee drinker, I drink coffee for the energy not for the enjoyment.I see that some people say that the coffee is weak tasting despite adding a ton of grounds and waiting for more than the recommended time. This may happen when not all the coffee grounds are saturated, I use a chopstick to stir the grounds around to make sure that every ground is touched by the water. If you just add the water in quickly, some grounds in the center or bottom will become packed and never touch water at all.Some people are getting a sludge at the bottom of their coffee. The recommendation is to use coarse ground. At that point if you’re still getting sludge I recommend to add the grounds to the mesh strainer and then shake it over the sink. That way you are forcing the grounds that are fine enough to pass through the strainer to pass through before you even start the brewing process.I can’t speak for the taste, whether it’s weak, strong, acidic or bitter, i have no idea. I think that all coffee tastes bad, I add a ton of milk to the point where I don’t notice the coffee.I don’t know why people are saying that it’s easy to clean. Because I spend a quite a few minutes running water on the outside of the strainer to get the remaining coffee grounds out. That might be due to me using pre ground coffee and they’re smaller, so easier to get stuck inside the strainer? But honestly that’s not even a deal breaker.The design is so sleek and simple and I hate burning hot coffee that I just can’t imagine having any other coffee maker.I just tried it with actual beans that I ground myself instead of the dunkin donuts preground coffee. The taste is immaculate. Well not really, I still don’t enjoy coffee all that much. But the less acidic taste is definitely apparent, went down smoothly. Definitely buy your own beans to grind or at least buy some higher quality preground coffee, not dunkin donuts.”

Customer Review: “I started to feel ripped off spending $4+ every morning for a basic cold brew that was mostly ice at the cafe I frequent, so I bought this a few months ago to see if I could get a brew just as good at home and it did not disappoint! I feel like it paid for itself in a week and was 110% worth the investment!I use coarse grounds specifically meant for cold brew and a little bit of ground does leak through the filter but I don’t find it bothersome at all. The particles are so fine that I usually drink them all up. It’s not like sipping on sand or anything. I brew about two pots a week and use a little more than half a cup of grounds each time (about 9-10 tbsp) It’s been two months and I haven’t used a whole pound of coffee grounds yet, so I estimate $12.99 gets me roughly 50+ cups of coffee! The pot is an investment, but if I get tired of cold brew I figure I can brew tea or fruit infused water or whatever trendy brew comes around next.I brew in the fridge for 48 hours before removing the filter, though usually I steal a cup after 24 hours and just refill the water and put it back in the fridge. I also fill it alllll the way to the top, not just to the 32 ounce line. It doesn’t make a concentrate, but it does make a strong brew that I drink black, just poured over ice.I find it extremely easy to clean, except the filter. I don’t bother putting any of it in the dishwasher, just give it a quick hand wash and then brew again. I would have liked the filter to have holes to the bottom because it would make it easier to clean but overall I do really love that there’s virtually no waste, no paper filters, no k-cups, nothing, so I try to focus on that while I’m smacking the filter over the sink, trying to get the bottom layer of grounds out!All in all, I’d buy this again in a heartbeat.”

Customer Review: “Things I’ve learned using this very nice maker:Making a new batch:You really don’t want finely ground coffee grounds. I made that mistake the first time, just using what I had for hot coffee. I highly recommend measuring out your grounds to the recommended amount and use a measuring cup each time to add them. Eyeballing 5/6th full is proving very inconsistent 🤣.I have used room temp water and I’ve used cold water straight from the fridge because of laziness, I don’t notice a difference. I am really only drinking coffee out of necessity though, not to enjoy the taste so there might be others with a more sophisticated palate that feel differently.I use 4+ cups of water and and use a large measuring cup to pour it In. I go over the max line slightly after getting all of the water in and settled (basically as high as I can fill it to still be able to shut the lid without overflowing) and I pour about a cup in, stir with handle of tiny spoon, mash down with spoon part of the spoon (is there a name for that?), pour in another cup and repeat. It can take a couple of minutes to do as the water settles and you push the grounds back in. I go above the max line because even after doing all of this, there were batches that the water was below the max line because things have settled. I need as much coffee as I can get so this is works well. When I do this, I get 4 cups of cold brew, which is three days worth for me.I have let it brew for 12 hours, 18 hours, and 22 hours and like 22 the best. So when I’ve had my second (of 3) day’s cold brew I make a new batch to have ready for day 3 just to be safe. You never know when the kids or your anxiety will keep you up all night and you’ll need a little extra.One thing that will help to have: a tiny metal spoon. I use it to stir (with the handle) and then mash down the grounds after the water has been poured in. I have tried a plastic chop stick and it didn’t work well, I have also tried a butter knife and that was terrible. The tiny spoon works great!.Pouring for consumption:I use a reusable coffee filter to strain the brew out of this container because no matter how big your grounds are, there is a gunk that forms at the bottom that I don’t want to drink. So after it’s done brewing, I pour the entire container into a large measuring cup (the same one I use for the water) THROUGH the strainer, then pour 1 1/4 ish cups into three mason jars. Seal them up and put them in the fridge. You can adjust your portions however you’d like, I just found that 1 cup of cold brew wasn’t quiet enough.Mason jars are your best friend. You can pour your desired amount of cold brew per day directly in to them and refrigerate until you’re ready to drink. Add your water (I didn’t realize you had to do this before making my first batch, but I’ve learned I don’t like the 1:1 ratio as much, so I use 1 1/4 cup cold brew pre-measured in the jar and add 1/2 cup of water) directly into the mason jar and add milk/creamer (you don’t NEEED anything, I like 3 tbsp of creamer though because I don’t love coffee and I also don’t do milk/sugar, it’s not enough sugar for me 🤣), add an ice cube or two, and drink with a reusable straw from the mason jar.. The plastic tumblers are also a good option but I don’t like refrigerating them as much because the seal isn’t completely tight. I also prefer drinking out of glass. Now you could pour directly from the cold brew maker, but I want to filter mine and I can’t make a new batch if I’m storing the cold brew in there… so the timing didn’t work out the first couple of batches doing that.The only downside, I do wish it wasn’t glass. The amount of moving this thing that is required while making a new batch always makes me nervous. Especially when I have to sit it on the sink to pour out the grounds (although I am going to look for other uses of the grounds in my yard or something). It does have a rubber bottom grip that is removable but I’m clumsy and am just one bad night’s of sleep from knocking it over and it breaking. But it is very nice it is glass and dishwasher safe and very easy to clean by hand in a pinch. Overall I would highly recommend.This is a great cold brew maker. I do wish I had gotten a larger size one because it takes a lot of grounds and I only get 3 days worth of coffee. Plastic lids are hard enough to use on glass jar. Having a handle in the way so that you have to remove you hand with each turn is frustrating. Fir someone new to what cold coffee brew represents, this is a good starter pot, or I frequently used pot.The instruction page presented a problem. Simple answer: go online and get detailed instructions on just how to make cold coffee. Now, the simple instructions manuel is a fine reminder.Packaging handled the trip thru shipping very well. It is glass. It was double packed.There were many choices of cold brewing containers. Considering the cleaning process I go thru with my automatic tea pot, I opted for simple. Simple is very easy to clean with no over-engineered top to take apart to clean. Small enough for refrigerator or counter.The gaskets didn’t look sturdy to me, but after use and washing, I think they will be just fine. It’s hard for the plastic lid to screw on and off because of the handle, but I succeed. I use a standard tube sponge to clean the filter. Works better.”

Also the plastic lid screws on tight, my arms being stronger than some, so I had to be careful not to screw it on tighter.It’s a 64oz mason jar, but with the filter filled with 8oz of ground coffee it’s slightly less. The instructions say to use 8oz of coffee grounds with 64oz water, I didn’t come up with that myself.Also, you have to grind your own beans: the pre-ground beans from the store are too fine and seeped out of my metal tea strainers that I already had from a different brand/appliance. I didn’t experiment with putting store bought grounds in this strainer, no desire to potentially drink coffee with fine grounds in it.So in addition to this pitcher I ended up buying a Black&Decker basic coffee grinder, to get coarse grinds.I also labeled the lid with the date/time my 24-hour batch would be ready, with a red wax pencil. you can use masking tape or whatever, sharpie washes off plastic with dish soap sometimes.Overall this is a decent pitcher for making your own cold brew coffee.”

Customer Review: “Works as advertised. It’s so easy to use. I just scoop 8 scoops (1/4 cup) of coffee in the filter and then add water almost to the top. Then I put in the fridge for roughly 24 hours, remove the filter, and I’ve got delicious cold brew for the next 3 days, unless my wife gets into it ;-)One thing I’ll note… the filter is really easy to clean. NO coffee grounds went in my cold brew which is fantastic! I put 1 1/4 cup, way too much. Tasted good but a bit strong. I used 1 cup of coffee and placed it over night in the fridge 24 hrs and it was just right. I would recommend this product. The glass bottle feels heavy just hold it from the handle and the bottom of the glass when it’s full. Make sure the lid is on correctly so it doesn’t leak. Great value and saves me $. One review said the seal comes off. It does, it goes back on no problem. Ive had NO leakage if lid is on properly.”

I’ve had a bunch of loose leaf tea just sitting in my cupboard throughout Summer because I didn’t want to drink something warm when it was already too hot in our house. From the first time I used this it immediately became a ‘why didn’t I buy this sooner?’ kind of thing. Now I always have tea either steeping or ready to drink. I’ve used it with both green and black teas, which have both been fantastic. Going to try a herbal chai tea next. The tea tastes perfect, exactly as it does with a perfectly steeped hot tea, but with cold brewing it somehow doesn’t get bitter when you leave the tea in too long, it stays perfect, so it’s even easier than brewing hot. And I get four large cups out of this, instead of 2 with my kettle.Went with Takeya specifically because I use one of their metal insulated water bottles daily, and love it. Same quality here. I kinda wish it was glass instead of plastic, but at least if I drop this it isn’t going to shatter on my feet.Drawbacks? If I’m being hyper-nitpicky, the way that the filter threads into the lid is kinda tricky. I usually have to try two or three times to get the threads lined up right.Can’t recommend this enough.
