Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I’ve been using this cold brew carafe for a while now, and I’m never looking back! When I got rid of my old coffee maker that had seen better days, I didn’t want to buy another one right away. Instead, I wanted to look at my options. So for a while, I then started buying bottled cold brew from the store. However, the taste wasn’t as good as I’d have liked, and for the price I couldn’t justify buying more than 1 bottle (which meant I ran out of coffee mid-week.) Then my partner suggested I start making my own cold brew, which led me to this product. It was very important to me to find one made out of glass rather than plastic, and this fits the bill. It’s a good, thick, sturdy glass without being too heavy. This is really easy to use, too: fill it up with water, grind your beans, add them to the filter, screw everything on, shake it up, let it sit. I personally let it sit at room temp for 12-24 hours and then I transfer it to the fridge. I drink one large (16 oz) mug a day, and this lasts me around 4 days. I now have delicious, smooth, fresh coffee all week! This is also fairly easy to clean, with the exception of the filter. For the filter, I do find that it’s hard to get the wet grounds out (the stick like no other) so I end up letting it dry out for a day and then scrape them out. You’ll definitely need a bottle brush to properly clean inside the filter when you do dishes. However, that’s a small price to pay! This cold brew maker has already paid for itself over and over. If you like iced coffee, this is even better because it doesn’t water it down! I’d definitely recommend this to anyone.”
Customer Review: “I love this cold brew coffee maker. It’s the perfect size for my fridge. If it was any taller, it won’t fit the fridge shelf. It’s great for making coffee and tea. It’s easy to use. You twist the top to pour the liquid. I’m happy this one was not made out of plastic. It’s durable and made out of glass, except for the lid/handle. I use it every day. It’s very easy to clean and doesn’t not leak.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I’ve had and used several times a week for 4.5 years. This is just an outstanding little set up. Easy to use and easy to clean (as long as you don’t let the coffee grinds dry in the filter). Really durable, great buy that makes excellent could brew.”
Customer Review: “So I love tea, but I hate being warm. I’ve had a bunch of loose leaf tea just sitting in my cupboard throughout Summer because I didn’t want to drink something warm when it was already too hot in our house. From the first time I used this it immediately became a ‘why didn’t I buy this sooner?’ kind of thing. Now I always have tea either steeping or ready to drink. I’ve used it with both green and black teas, which have both been fantastic. Going to try a herbal chai tea next. The tea tastes perfect, exactly as it does with a perfectly steeped hot tea, but with cold brewing it somehow doesn’t get bitter when you leave the tea in too long, it stays perfect, so it’s even easier than brewing hot. And I get four large cups out of this, instead of 2 with my kettle.Went with Takeya specifically because I use one of their metal insulated water bottles daily, and love it. Same quality here. I kinda wish it was glass instead of plastic, but at least if I drop this it isn’t going to shatter on my feet.Drawbacks? If I’m being hyper-nitpicky, the way that the filter threads into the lid is kinda tricky. I usually have to try two or three times to get the threads lined up right. Can’t recommend this enough. One of the best purchases I’ve made on Amazon in a long time.”

Customer Review: “It’s a great product. Simple well built easy to use. I’ve only used it twice.First I tasted the coffe at different times. four hours, 6, 8, 12, 24. To see the difference that made.I didn’t like any of it. In fact I couldn’t drink it and threw it all out.Not the coffee makers fault. I just don’t like cold brew. It even makes me feel sick.I drink decaf for the flavor of it. I like a deep rich coffe flavor. I like a medium rroast sweet coffe bean espresso.Cold bew just doesn’t taste anything like that. Itt has its own taste wich is very mild and smooth or flavorless depending on your attitude. But it does extract more caffeine from the beans even my decaf beans made coffee to caffeinated for me. It also extracted some other stuff from the beans my espresso maker doesn’t having a totally different effect on that Ididn’t like.I recommend trying cold brew before getting into making it yourself but my coffee shop doesn’t have decaf cold brew so I had to buy this to see for myself. If you like cold brew this is a great way to go. Aside from changing the time of the brew you can pla around with adding paper filters inside the metal filter or filtering the the coffee after its downe but I didn’t mind the slight sludge on the bottom of my coffee cup.So the machine is simple easy to use works well easy to clean. Great if you like cold brew buts a completely different type of coffee.”
Customer Review: “I love this. It is not like pressing a button and coffee comes out, but cold brewing coffee is a bit of a process and should be, because it needs to sit for 12-24 hours. It is pretty easy to clean, simple to use, and the glass jar washes easily and does not stain. Coffee stains like a b….”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “A great container that makes it easy and fast to make great iced tea. Below is a recipe for green tea that I had been making for some time…this is perfect for it.5-Minute Fresh-Brewed Iced Green TeaThis iced tea preparation method is FAST, and still delivers unsurpassed taste. Amazingly simple and effective (did I mention fast!), the method is adaptable to any tea variety. Best of all, if you use the brand of green tea recommended, it costs ~$1 to make 2 quarts (64 ounces) of iced tea, or about 15 cents per 8 ounce serving of tea!Ingredients:• 2 qt container• 8 x 1.5g bags (12g) green tea (or to taste)• Dash matcha (optional)• I qt water• ~1 qt iceDirections:1. Bring 1 qt water to 175 deg F (NOT boiling)2. Transfer hot water to container3. Add tea (and dash of matcha)4. Remove tea after 45 seconds – 1 minute5. Add ice to make 2 qts (i.e. 1 quart tea + 1 quart ice = 2 qts)6. Agitate (stir or shake) to melt ice7. Pour into a glass over ice8. EnjoyNotes:• This method is adaptable to any type of tea desired by using 8 tea bags (or the equivalent in grams), and modifying the steeping temperature and time as appropriate. I like to make an iced hibiscus tea (16g hibiscus leaves per 2 qt final volume, 212 deg F boiling water, steep 5 min).• The time it takes to heat your water is really the time-limiting factor in this preparation. You might be able to beat 5 minutes, or perhaps it will take you 8 minutes. I use an electric tea kettle that has an adjustable temperature control. As explained below, temperature does matter.• Yes, that’s right, that’s how green tea is done. The Japanese have studied green tea for centuries, and you use water heated to 175 degrees and steep it for 45 seconds to 1 minute. They tell you to bob the bag three times, then hold it above the tea and shake it three times before discarding. Seriously, they have studied this issue. If you like stronger tea add more, but steeping it longer just makes it taste bitter, or so say countless generations of people who have made it their business to know something about such things. Of course you can burn it with boiling water and let it get bitter, just saying. Or maybe it’s different with Chinese green teas, I have found I prefer the Japanese teas.• The container can be any sort of pitcher or jug, and it is especially nice if it has a lid that seals so you can shake it to melt the ice. Takeya makes a good one that includes a strainer. Make sure to think about how you will remove your tea ahead of time if you don’t have a strainer or the strings aren’t long enough…chopsticks work in a pinch.• I recommend Costco Kirkland Signature Brand green tea, which is manufactured by Itoen in Japan. Costco picked the best supplier they could find, and then provide it to members at the lowest price possible (that’s what they DO). It includes a bit of powdered green tea called matcha in each bag that really adds to the flavor of the tea.• Matcha is a finely ground powder of specially shade-grown and processed (the stems and veins are removed) green tea. Many Japanese restaurants use matcha to make their green tea, both hot and iced. If you don’t use the Costco tea, you can always add a bit of matcha, or you can flavor the tea entirely with matcha.• If you like your iced tea sweetened or with other flavorings like ginger or jasmine, add it after steeping but before adding the ice (between Steps 4 and 5). Agitate it a bit to help combine the sweeteners/flavorings if that helps.”
Customer Review: “I love tea and I love iced tea. But since I do not have an ice maker, there is something very messy about making iced tea. To get a potent tasting beverage, you need to steep it when it’s hot. And so you then need to cool it down—that requires a lot of ice or a lot of waiting around. What I enjoy about this iced tea maker is that the seal is watertight, which allows the container to be put on its side. I have used it for a few months now, and it has never leaked or spilled. The second advantage of that seal is that, more importantly, the tea does not ‘taste like the fridge’—which I’m sure is a frequent problem some of you may have encountered, especially with more delicate or subtle teas, such as green teas. Finally, I find the materials robust, the construction of very good quality, and the pitcher’s design is well thought out: for instance, it is not perfectly cylindrical, so as to not roll when it is on its side. Finally, everything rinses out very well—as soon as I empty a pitcher, I just rinse it out, put more tea, and start the next pitcher. That is how you can have on-demand homemade iced tea all summer long with minimal effort.A few tips to brew good iced tea:— Consider using a blender or (clean) coffee grinder to turn your loose tea into some sort of powder (this sounds barbaric and I would not recommend this for enjoying the subtle notes of a sencha; but when brewing iced tea, this helps make the infusion more potent).— If you want to do single-use iced tea that are ready immediately (takes about 10 minutes to make from scratch to actually drinking with a straw), you might consider looking at an alternate solution, such as the award wining Taiwanese teapot: Company Pu’erh Tea Starter Pack Comprising Piao I Teapot (500cc/16 Ounces) (it has less than stellar reviews because at some point a vendor was sending knock-offs, but the teapot itself is a prized possession). This allows you to steep a very concentrated tea, that you can then pour over half a cup of ice cubes, pour a bit of water and mix.”

Customer Review: “5/12/25: UPDATE: The pot works fine. One thing drive me to using bad words. I said this before, but it is an irritant. They attached the handle to the lid. Plastic lids are hard enough to use on glass jar. Having a handle in the way so that you have to remove you hand with each turn is frustrating. Fir someone new to what cold coffee brew represents, this is a good starter pot, or I frequently used pot.The instruction page presented a problem. Simple answer: go online and get detailed instructions on just how to make cold coffee. Now, the simple instructions manuel is a fine reminder.Packaging handled the trip thru shipping very well. It is glass. It was double packed. There were many choices of cold brewing containers. Considering the cleaning process I go thru with my automatic tea pot, I opted for simple. Simple is very easy to clean with no over-engineered top to take apart to clean. Small enough for refrigerator or counter. The gaskets didn’t look sturdy to me, but after use and washing, I think they will be just fine. It’s hard for the plastic lid to screw on and off because of the handle, but I succeed. I use a standard tube sponge to clean the filter. Works better.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Over the last three years, I have been experimenting with all sorts of different coffee brewing methods in an attempt to find one that met the list of things I wanted from a coffee maker.1: It has to be easy. I do not mind grinding my beans as I can see a definite improvement in the quality of the finished product with that, but I have also tried:Pour overs. Too finicky about the pour time and such.Aeropress. Killer coffee. Too much rather precise timing and such for early morning pre-coffee brain. Two different high-end small size brewers. Could not get a decent cup of coffee out of either of them. Sour or bitter.A semi-automatic Espresso machine. Again, too much work for a cup of joe.2: The resulting coffee has to be adaptable. Somedays I want a strong short hot cup. Other days a milder glass of iced coffee. And sometimes I like to make a quasi Vietnamese style super sweet with Hazelnut syrup over ice.3: I would prefer it not be acidic. So of course, A cold brew rig is the way to go. I started with a Toddy. Works well, but the part where you sit a half gallon of coffee and grounds balanced over a juice carafe for an hour to let it drip through the small fiber puck filter…ehh. I kept having nightmares of that crap all over my kitchen. Yeah, I can set it in the sink, but my sink is not flat bottomed, so the wobbly factor was raised. Plus those filters are a dog to get rinsed out. Noticed the flow was significantly diminished after the third batch even with soaking the filter in multiple changes of water after use. Then I thought I was overthinking it. So I went with 50 grams of fine grind in a quart mason jar of water in the fridge overnight. Filtered it through a Melitta #4 in one of the pour over gadgets. That worked, but again a bit too fiddly. Plus I got the feeling I was filtering out some of the wanted coffee flavors.Along came this lil number. I have a few Hario kitchen gadgets already, so I was familiar with the brand and their quality. The 80 grams of ground coffee for a liter of returned concentrate seemed high at first. But man with a 24-hour brew in the fridge, this concentrate is strong. Like I tried drinking an espresso cup of it with a teaspoon of sugar straight, and after a while, I felt I could see through time. 1 to 1 water to concentrate is plenty strong for most folks iced coffee. Maybe a bit stronger for a drink with creamer and sugars. My go-to summertime drink is.Make the Mizudashi with 80 grams of semi-fine grind medium roast. (I have a Capresso Infinity grinder, and I set it on the 2nd tick mark from the right in the FINE section) 1150 ml of bottled water (my tap water is hella hard) and a 24 hour brew time in the fridge. Pull the filter basket, and I pour the concentrate into a 32 oz. Nalgene bottle. In a second Nalgene bottle, I mix: 1 15oz can of full fat Coconut milk, 8 oz. of simple syrup and 8 oz of bottled water. Shake the devil out of it to blend, and it goes into the fridge too. When I want a drink, I pour into a 20 oz glass: Half cup of concentrate, half cup of the Milk mix (Shaking well before), half cup of water and fill the glass with ice. Stir or shake in a cocktail mixer. Is it super strong? No. Is it super sweet? No. Does it cost $8 like from Starbuckers? Nope.”
Customer Review: “This is my review of the Hario Mizudashi Cold Brew Coffee Pot Cold Brew Coffee Maker. This simple cold-brew coffee maker is an excellent addition to my coffee addiction. Do you go to the coffee shops and find that their ice coffee is too weak for your liking? I know I did and if they are using hot coffee and trying to cool it down once ordered, it will never be good. This is a super economical coffee maker, but the amount of coffee it uses is more than one might expect. That does not matter that much for me because this brewer makes the best cold-brew coffee that I have had anywhere. The big plus is that I get to choose the beans and water to use. Of course, you should never use tap water for your coffee, use purified, filtered water. The coffee beans that I have been using for more than a decade now are the organic, fair-trade coffee beans that Sprouts sells. I wait for them to go on sale with the bulk items and then buy the large four-pound bags the coffee comes to the stores in. Lately, the sale price has been $9.99 per pound, which is a great price for organic coffee beans. Plus, when you buy the unopened four-pound bag, they give you an additional 10% off. I get the Sprouts Special Dark Blend or the Espresso beans. I grind them as I need them into a powder for this coffee maker. The trick to making powerfully strong, super-tasty coffee is to spend a little time preparing it. Once the grinds are loaded into the filter, slowly drip a few drops of water in at a time. You want the coffee to saturate before dripping to the bottom of the flask. As you are able to add a little more water at a time, the coffee turns into a mud. When this happens use a butter knife and gently stir and move the mud around. Be careful not to over-fill it!With good, strong beans the first tall glass of delicious coffee could be filled within eight hours or so after being in the frig. Once you have poured a glass, slowly refill the coffee maker again to the top with water. Give it a few more hours and again, another great glass full. I do this three or four times. This device uses a lot of coffee, so there is a lot that can be made with it if you play with it a little. For mine, I pour a little heavy whipping cream into the glass first and a milky froth comes to the top. It is so tasty and rich, you just want to sip it. Another thing for me personally, I do not add ice as I hate how it slowly dilutes the coffee. Oh yeah, once I am done with the grinds, my sister uses them in her electric ice coffee maker and she said it is still strong coffee!”
