Previously, it took me so much time to make cold brew, filter out sludge, transfer to clean jar, and clean up all the mess. Now the process is so simple! Grind beans, add water, and just wait. The gallon jar is durable and made of borosilicate glass. The filter is wonderful and I never get sludge in my cup. The lid is sturdy and airtight; in fact, I have to loosen it for the spigot to work. The spigot works great and does not leak – you may need to hand tighten if you experience leaks. My cold brew tastes great and keeps fresh to the last cup. Cleanup is easy, just flip the filter upside down in a bowl. Once it dries a bit, the coffee grinds release with a little thump to the bottom of the filter. Give it a rinse in the sink and it’s ready for the next batch. I highly recommend!”

Being glass, it doesn’t retain any odor from whatever is stored in it. The strainer works well for coffee, tea and even fresh fruit if you are having a gathering and just want flavored water. We put this on the middle rack in the fridge and the spigot easily clears the door, so it doesn’t have to be moved except to clean and refill. I then add the hot tea directly to the container. It works great and it will hold the tea for a couple weeks before it gets bad. It fits well in the refrigerator and doesn’t take up too much space. I don’t know that I would want much larger a size due to the weight on the glass shelves of the refrigerator. It does seem to be pretty durable and I usually hand wash it and it does fine. I just make sure that I run some water and soapy water through the spigot part. Definitely a good value for what you’re getting. I wanted to go with glass so that I didn’t have hot tea going into plastic and potentially releasing PFAS. Metal top lid can be a little tricky to get aligned, but there’s no need to necessarily over tighten it. I’ve actually come to really like the Zulay products because they are of a good quality.”

Before this my setup was a 5L tea pitcher that didn’t have an integrated filter, so I had to spend a lot of time filtering out the grounds by hand with cheesecloth and a steel/paper filter afterwards. This is much easier and saves quite a bit of time on cleanup. Flavor is equivalent to other cold brew I’ve made. The quality seems very good at this price point, I like the gaskets they included for the valve, and the valve itself and nut are solid steel. Glass feels as durable if not moreso than a typical Ball jar, and I haven’t broken any of those before so I am confident this will last a while. The small footprint is great since the 5L jug won’t fit in the fridge, but this will.”
